ADAMS, Peter John – (December 29, 2011) Peter J. Adams was born on April 28, 1929 in Breslau, Germany. His family left Germany in 1933 and ultimately emigrated to the US in 1939, settling in Saginaw, Michigan. He completed high school in Saginaw and went on to The University of Michigan to graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. A summer job in 1945 with the Wickes Boiler Company provided the interest in boiler engineering which he maintained throughout his career. Employers included The Babcock and Wilcox Company, Combustion Engineering, Inc. (Alstom) and Foster Wheeler Corp. in various US locations. He was transferred to Foster Wheeler Limited in 1974 where he retired as Vice President in 1992. Mr. Adams was a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario as well as many of the states, a life member of ASME and held a number of patents.  Mr. Adams married Ann Arbogast (deceased 1976) in 1954 and together they had four children, Carolyn Adams- Price, John M. Adams, Paul R. Adams and Susan J. Adams as well as six grandchildren. In 1979 he married Carol G. Adams (deceased in 2007). Mr. Adams’ identical twin F. Gerard Adams passed away earlier in 2011 year and his younger brother Robert F. Adams resides in California. 

A memorial service will be held on March 24, 10:00am at the Stamford United Church, 3855 St. Peter Ave; Niagara Falls, Ontario.  Arrangements entrusted to MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

CHASE, Elwood “Jim” – Peacefully, at the age of 90 years, on January 26, 2012 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital.  Loving Husband of 60 years to Marjorie (nee Lounsbury).  Dear father of Virginia Burns (Ian), of Elora, Susan Patterson (David), of Calgary, and James Chase (Cheryl), of Vancouver.  Proud “Grandpa” of Hilary and Lauren Burns, Molly Patterson, and Meghan and Jaedon Chase.  Predeceased by sister, Evelyn Bernice Thacker.  Jim will be missed by nieces, nephews and friends.  Jim was employed with Provincial Crane from 1950 – 1986.  He was a longtime member of Stamford United Church, the Niagara Falls Nature Club, Br. 393 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Smithville. Jim was an avid gardener who grew his own tomatoes from seed and took great delight in bird watching.  Jim was a past member of the Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club and Niagara Wood Carvers. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Morse & Son Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held at Stamford United Church (3855 St. Peter Ave., Niagara Falls) on Monday January 30th, at 11:45 a.m.  Interment will be held at Smithville United Church Cemetery (Hwy. 20) on Monday afternoon at 3:15.  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Niagara Falls Nature Club or Stamford United Church.
